If any restrictions apply regarding visitors or persons who may or may not have contact with your child, you must make this known in writing to the school. Proper Attire:Preschool fun can be messy while we are learning because of this we request that your child wear play clothes. We do try to take precautions to prevent messy clothes. We will not be responsible for “Cute” clothes getting messy. Please have an extra change of clothes that your child can change themselves if they have gotten wet from play or “accidents”. Please dress your child for the weather also. We will be playing outside when it isn’t raining. Please bring a coat each day. Flip flop sandals are hard to keep on your child's feet while running outside. Because of this I ask that they not be worn to Preschool. Please dress your child in clothing that makes it easy for your child to be independent. Please no overalls, hard to buckle belts, etc. If there is a need because of an accident we will call you or someone from your emergency list to come and help your child clean up.
Illness:The health and well being of all the children here are the utmost importance to me. If your child has a fever, vomiting, rash, or diarrhea, they need to be free from these symptoms for at least 24 hours without the aid of fever reducing medications such as Tylenol. If your child is at School when they become ill then you will be notified and you or one of your emergency contact persons will need to pick up your child as soon as possible.
Discipline:My philosophy is that you use discipline to teach a child. I achieve this through love, consistency, and firmness. I stress two main patterns of behavior: respect for others (everyone in class is your friend and will be treated with kindness), and respect for property. The children are explained the rules and we frequently go over them, so they are very familiar with the rule.
The following methods of discipline will be used:
*Encourage children to solve problems themselves while a teacher is nearby to intercede if need be.
*Intervention and discussion
*Redirection to another play area
* Loss of privileges
*Time out – this is reserved for severe issues and is used VERY little in class. In most cases we never get beyond the discussion stage.
If I feel there is a chronic behavior issue that needs attention, I will let you know so that you and I are handling it in the same way and your child has continuity in discipline.
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will there be any spanking or physical or verbal abuse.
Smoking:This facility is a smoke free School. Please be respectful of the area by not smoking on the property.
Birthdays:If your child has a birthday during the year please let the teacher know a couple of days ahead of the date if you want to bring in a snack to share. If you do want to bring your child’s class a snack it needs to be store bought. It can be small cupcakes or your child favorite snack. We have even had fruit or veggies for our special snack.
EMERGENCY:In case of an EMERGENCY I will administer first aid. In the case that 911 needs to be called you will also be notified ASAP. If an ambulance is called to transport your child, the cost of the ambulance will be covered by the parent or guardian.
Parent/ Teacher communication: Communication is very important to me. I welcome questions, feedback or discussions that are oriented towards a positive outcome for your child. Sensitive issues will be discussed in private after class or by telephone. All communications between you and I will remain private.
1Please make sure to send along extra clothes in case their clothes become wet from accident's ( I will have them change themselves even when it has been from spilling snack juices onto themselves or from bathroom accidents).
2.Please be prompt in picking up your child to avoid a late fee.
3.Please share information with me that will me better care for your child. For example: child was sick over the weekend, a loss in the family, etc.
4.Please do not wear any perfume in the classroom if you plan on spending time with us. This also, includes cologne, scented lotion, etc. I am allergic to these and they cause me a headache, also includes not allowing your child to wear perfume to prevent severe headaches.
Medications:Faithful Heart Preschool LLC does NOT administer medications at school. If a child needs to have their medications during class time a parent is welcome to come and administer the medications.
Trial Period and Withdrawal: A two week trial period will be given- upon enrollment, to determine the suitability of the arrangements. If at any time during the two weeks, you feel that the arrangement has not proven workable, then you will be required to give a two week notice in writing. I will also have the right to terminate, with the same notice. If there is a problem where I feel that for the safety and well being of the other children, I have the right to immediate dismissal. If after the two week trial we both feel that this is a good fit for both of us then your child will be enrolled as a permanent student. If for some reason that you need to remove your child I will need a two week written notice.
Open Door Policy:At Faithful Heart Preschool LLC we have an open door policy. This means that you are always welcome to stop in and check on your child. Please keep in mind a child just adjusting to a new surrounding will want to leave with you if you pop in for a visit. I do ask that while you are in the classroom that and I am teaching that you out of respect to please refrain from talking with the other Parent’s. We try to use every minute of our class time for the purpose of learning and this becomes difficult for the children and teacher to concentrate.
